Summer Sunrise

Yesterday was the first time I’ve gone out for sunrise since April. And you know, there’s something about summer sunrises that isn’t the same as the winter ones. The clouds weren’t really doing much, and the sky didn’t have the same epic colors that I was hoping for.

I don’t regret going. I find sunrise to be much more peaceful and quiet the sunset, and I will almost always pick sunrise, even though I’m not even a little bit of a morning person. I enjoy the quiet calm of watching the sunrise and listening to the early morning sounds while I wait for the rest of the world to wake up, verses, the busy rush of sunset when everyone is already awake.

But I think from now in, when I go in the summer, I’m going to focus on looking for compositions that aren’t the sky. I’m going to wait for the sun’s rays to light up the subject. And if I get a photo of the sky, I do, and if I don’t, I don’t.
