50 States Goal

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved to travel. I love exploring new places and trying new things. Since before I got married, I have wanted to visit all 50 states. This country has a lot of natural beauty to offer, and while I do want to travel abroad, someday, I recognize that there is a lot to see here too.

I’m so glad that my husband also likes to travel, or this would be harder to accomplish. We try and take one big trip each year, usually around our anniversary. Early in our marriage, we decided to do that instead of getting each other gifts. We would both rather have the experience and the time.

So far, we’ve seen 10 states. Sort of. We’ve been to the UP once, and just for half a day and we didn’t really see much, so maybe it doesn’t count. But for argument’s sake, I’ll add it.

We’ve also been to Minnesota, Illinois, South Dakota, Maine, Arizona, Utah, Iowa, New York, and Wisconsin. My husband tends to pick the east coast, and I tend to pick the southwest.

We were supposed to go to Hawaii for our tenth anniversary, but Covid killed that dream. And now we’re both kind of salty about that idea right now. Not that it was Hawaii’s fault or anything like that.

And for 2023 we’re going to add at least one more state goal if not two or three. Depending on what life throws at us. Any guesses as to where we want to go out of the 50 states?

We’re trying to include National Parks in our trips. …which I always hope leads to a beach somewhere 😊🌴

  2. […] I shared several posts about traveling. And next year, I’d like to start working on them. My 50 states goal, and maybe my state park goal, are going to be long-term, no-rush kind of goals, but I’d like […]
