Top 4 Lake Superior Lighthouses I Want to See
Over the past couple of years, I’ve become interested in lighthouses. And as you know, I’m very interested in Lake Superior. So I thought it would be fun to combine the two and share with you the ones I want to see.
Crisp Point
Crisp Point Lighthouse is located in Newberry, Michigan. And based on the photos online, it looks amazing. The area around the lighthouse also looks rather interesting, so I could capture more images other than the lighthouse.
Big Bay Point
Big Bay Point Lighthouse is located in Big Bay, Michigan. It is a bed and breakfast, so we could even stay there. It’s about three and a half hours away from Crisp Point, so in theory, we could see both on the same trip.
Apparently, we can climb the tower to see the lantern and the view from 120 feet above the lake. Could you imagine sunrise or sunset at that vantage point?
Eagle Harbor
Eagle Harbor Lighthouse is also in Michigan. It is three hours in the other direction from Big Bay Point, so we could also see that. It would be really cool to see three of the four on my list in one trip. The photos of this lighthouse look really cool too, which is why I want to go. The shoreline would also make for interesting compositions.
Split Rock
Split Rock Lighthouse is not in Michigan. It is in Two Harbors, Minnesota. I was here already in fifth grade, but that was a long time ago. I seem to recall it being cool. This is one of the most photographed lighthouses in Minnesota. And there is a good reason. It is on a cliff, and the area around it is breathtaking.
Those are the four lighthouses that I want to see that are on Lake Superior. Are there any that aren’t on my list that need to be? Please comment below. Also, feel free and share any photos you have of them. I’d love to see your photos.

Raspberry Island Lighthouse in the Apostle Islands is pretty cool, plus the park service staffs an interpreter there. But it does require a boat ride to get to it: https://mariezhuikov.wordpress.com/2018/08/17/of-lighthouses-and-books/
I grew up nearby the Apostle Islands. I do want to see the lighthouses on all of them. I just need to ask my brother to take us someday.
