Office Update

A few years ago, I mentioned that I want to build a she shed and turn it into my office. We have a few other projects that are more of a priority so I still have to wait. But in the meantime, I thought I’d give you guys an office update anyway. This is supposed to be my temporary office unless we make other life choices that would allow it to be more permanent. I’ll keep you posted on that.

What I Did

We have a three-bedroom ranch, and for a while, we were sharing one of the bedrooms for our office. Well, my stuff started to take over, and I felt in the way, so I migrated to our guest room. I did a lot of rearranging a few weeks ago while my husband was at work, and I’m pretty happy with the changes that I’ve made.

I moved the spare bed to under the window and shoved a bunch of miscellaneous items in the closet. (Out of sight, out of mind, right?!) That opened up the majority of the room to have a hutch, a small bookcase, my wagon, and plenty of storage.

What I Need to Do

The only thing that I really need in this area is a source of heat. Our furnace vents don’t work in this room, and it gets pretty chilly in here. I’ve been meaning to go to Menards, I’ve just been really lazy. And maybe if I wait until it warms up a bit, I’ll get what I want on sale.

I’ve been thinking about getting an electric fireplace. That way, I don’t need a chimney, but I can still look at a fire. I’ve only really been looking online, and I haven’t been able to decide which one to get yet. I don’t like going out to make a bigger purchase like that on my own, and my husband has been way too busy with work to bother him with this right now.

I’m also thinking about moving my other desk in here too, I just haven’t quite decided where to put it without cluttering the room up more. I have plenty of room on one of the walls, but then I’d need to find another place for my wagon.

The final thing that I’m thinking about doing, is taking the carpet out. I just don’t know what the floor looks like underneath, and a new floor in this room is even less of a priority than replacing the shed. I just want a tile floor so I can make my crafts and not worry about spilling glitter, or glue on the floor. Because it’s only a matter of time before I do.

Anyway, that’s my office update for right now. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share with you my she shed and give a full-on office tour, but I’m happy with what I have for now. Below are a few images of what I’ve done so far.
