A Walk at Rainbow Park

Instead of doing any of the things on my to-do list for the craft fair this coming Saturday, my husband and I went for a walk at Rainbow Park. I wanted to make a few TikToks and take some photos. I didn’t get as many of either as I would have liked, but it was still time well spent with my favorite person.

Nature Walk

It is starting to warm up, finally, and he had never been on this part of the trail, so that’s where we went. I showed him all of the cool things that I’ve photographed in the past, including these willow trees. It is nice to see them green up a bit since the last time I photographed them.

This is a grove of trees that we saw while on a walk.

We followed the trail all the way to the highway, and I captured this photo of the trees across the way. I had to wait a bit since it was rush hour, but I was able to sneak a photo or two between cars.

The sun was still pretty high in the sky.

While we were on our way to the highway, I wanted to make a TikTok of two ducks swimming together. So, I stepped off of the trail onto the grassy area, to try and get closer, and when I took a few steps to my left I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked and saw something burrow back into its hole. I motioned for my husband to take a look, and he could only see the animal’s eyes.

On our way back we stopped by the hole again to see if the animal had ventured out enough to photograph it.

It did.

This woodchuck startled me more than I startled it while on a walk.

I took my phone out and snapped a few pictures of it, and maybe make a TikTok. That didn’t work out though. I sent the photo to my mom and she said a coworker of hers said it was a woodchuck and that they get mean. I think I’m lucky that I didn’t sprain my ankle and get bitten. It was really cute though and I wanted to see if I could pet it. Rabies would have been worth it, right?!

    • I’m cautiously optimistic. Last year my lilacs budded out, and then we got a hard frost. My lilacs didn’t like that too much. 🙁
