How I Stay Organized
I have this notorious habit of putting things in safe places and never seeing them again. I’m still looking for my library card I lost 10 years ago. I’m telling you all that so I can tell you how I stay organized now as a small business owner.
I don’t.
But I’m using this post as a way to start holding myself accountable for the rest of the year. I’m also hoping that by the end of the year, these new organizational skills will pass to 2024.
Currently
I am a big fan of to-do lists. I have a running list in my bullet journal, which I can show you later if you’re interested. In my journal, I keep track of the bigger projects and the one-time items that I need to do. I also have a weekly to-do list on my laptop that keeps track of my repeating tasks.
In addition to my bullet journal, I have a planner. I jot down my day job schedule, so I know when I’m free for craft fairs. I also write down when I have craft fairs, so I don’t double book a day. Thankfully, that has never happened.
New Habits
While I have my calendar mostly filled out, I don’t look at it nearly enough. I need to get better at that. In addition to that, I want to work on blocking my time. I’m hoping that will help me stay organized and on task.
Along those lines, I need to keep all of my to-do lists in one place I think. I’m looking for an app on my phone that I can move everything to. I have one that I mostly like, but it won’t let me cross off certain tasks, which is an irritation. Does anyone have any good apps that they use? Let me know in the comments.
I have never been good at putting my stuff where it belongs, so I want to add that to a new habit. I want to spend some time finding a home for everything and then remembering that I did. That way I’m less likely to lose things.
Finally, I need to stop migrating. With the changing seasons, I move from my office to the living room so I can sit in front of our pellet stove and warm up. I’m saying this as it’s getting closer to my annual migration season. 😉
What do you guys do to stay organized? I would love to hear your tips so I can incorporate them into my own routine.
