April Photo Challenge

A mini waterfall in the creek.

My April photo challenge was to photograph April showers. And lucky for me, there were plenty of rainy days. So I went out on one of them after work and photographed what looked interesting. I went to the Wiouwash Trail and walked until I was too wet and cold to keep going.

The feature photo is my favorite of the three photos. I am a sucker for waterfalls, no matter how big or small they are, and I was surprised to see this one. So, I crouched down to try and make it more pronounced than it actually was.

As I was walking down the trail, I saw this tree and I thought it looked interesting; standing alone on the edge of the field. And with the moody gray clouds, I couldn’t resist taking the photo.

For my April photo challenge, I took this photo of a tree along the Wiouwash Trail on a rainy day.

After I took this photo of a tree, I stood in the middle of this creek to capture the next image. And I’m really glad I did, so I could get the right angle of the creek. I didn’t want to lean over it and hope that everything was straight and in focus. I wanted to show the length of the creek instead of just a small section like I did in the above photo.

The next time I go out on a rainy day, I think I’m going to look for more dormant trees. I want to capture an eerie mood so I can turn the images into Halloween cards. However, these evergreen trees don’t quite work for that, but I still enjoy this photo.

For these images, I decided to try editing beyond the basic crop. I altered the color a little bit, to try and turn the blah gray into more defined clouds. Do you think this edit works, or did I go too far with the color? Please let me know in the comments below.
